POLICE: Arrest after pursuit

A Montreal teen faces charges after police chased two all-terrain vehicles in Grenville County on Wednesday morning, an incident in which one of the vehicles collided with a cruiser.

Just after 9 a.m. on Wednesday, members of the Grenville County OPP tried to stop two SUVs travelling together, one of which had been confirmed as stolen, police reported on Friday.

Police noticed the vehicles eastbound, on Highway 401, near Blue Church Road. The vehicles did not stop for police, leading to a pursuit which police “quickly terminated” after one of the SUVs collided with a cruiser, police added.

No one was hurt in the collision, which caused minor damage, said police.

“The suspect vehicle, responsible for the collision, continued to flee and was not stopped by police,” OPP added.

The second suspect vehicle left the 401 and travelled north, on Highway 416. Police located it at an emergency U-turn near the Spencerville exit, where it had collided with the ditch and rolled over onto its side.

Police then arrested the uninjured lone male occupant.

Vick Page, 19, from the east-end Montreal borough of Anjou, has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000; dangerous operation of a motor vehicle; flight from a peace officer; and failing to comply with an undertaking.

The accused was held for bail in Brockville.

The investigation was ongoing as of Friday.
