(SMITHS FALLS, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Smiths Falls Police Service (SFPS) have executed multiple search warrants in the area in relation to an ongoing series of break-ins.
The incidents began in the area in late July, with most break-ins and thefts occurring at night at homes in Smiths Falls as well as areas of Lanark, Leeds and Grenville Counties. There have been no injuries.
As a result on an ongoing, joint investigation, members of the Smiths Falls Police Service and members of the OPP Community Street Crime Unit, the OPP Emergency Response Team and OPP Canine Unit executed three search warrants at two residences on Russell Street in Smiths Falls and a home Townline Road in South Elmsley Township.
Several people were taken into custody and the joint investigation is continuing.
